Why I'm Down for Jerry Brown

Earlier this month, Jerry Brown announced his new plan for budget cuts since he was elected Governor of California. He plans to create higher taxes and cut Government funding. Some of these cuts will affect, Cal Works, Medical, and state colleges. The plan is to gain 12.5 billion dollars through these cuts. This can help California get out a  24 billion dollar deficit.

I’ve heard a lot of comments facing this issue, but I’m cool with it. At least now, I know what my money is going to, instead of Schwarzenegger taking my money and using it on bullshit. In 2008, Arnold Schwarzenegger, contributed to a 14.5 billion dollar defecit. He took money from the public school system, short down four dozen state parks, and released thousands of prisoners. This helped cause a 14.5 billion dollar deficit

Jerry will be helping me with it. Getting us half way out this deficit, and putting California back on track. A lot of people are upset because the increase in taxes, but this could actually help California. With Jerry Brown providing these cuts, this could increase money in this economy and maybe taking us half out of debt and using money for other resources. I've heard Jerry Brown speak and everything he's said, has had a plan and motive behind it. For instance, Jerry Brown explains how the cuts would affect Government funding. But would save enough money to where, it would be beneficial. And if we continue to spend without saving, we'd go deeper in debt. Its either make a drastic move now, or hurt harder in the long run.

Not only that, he's the only politician I’ve seen in the hood. Before I even knew who he was, he lived 5 blocks away from me. He even stepped out in ACORN by himself a few weeks ago. Ron Dellums, former Mayor of Oakland, has never done that.

I think Jerry Brown is stepping up to the plate. He's trying to get things done, and ease us out this deficit.

Our last Governor was more concerned with prisons and stealing from our school system. Jerry Brown's plan is to only tax higher education, not elementary schools and high schools. Medical and CalWorks will also be affected, but that's the only place we could pull money from. We’ve already taken money from the police department, small buisness's and schools.

People don’t understand how they can benefit from the budget cuts. But it takes money to make money. And if you’ve never been a politician, then you dont know how hard it is. I can’t put myself in his shoes, because I’ve never worked in his field. But I do understand things are messed up, and he's trying to fix it.

In my eyes, Jerry Brown has proved himself to the community. He's lived among us for years, and has a good reputation with the people. He wasn’t elected for nothing, so its time to accept him and his changes.

People hear the word taxes and immediately get defensive. But a lot of these people, are judging him off past experiences. Maybe something didnt go right with the last Governor, now people are skeptical. But we should’ve been skeptical electing an actor in the first place. How can you expect a movie star to run California effectively? That was the dumbest thing we could’ve ever done.

I’m happy with the Governor we elected, and I think he’ll do great things. This increase in taxes plan only shows how eager he is to help. He's just got elected and already he's on the job. So, I put my faith in him and support his decisions.
