Fantastic Fantasy Art:

Sean Stephens

News Interview, Sean Stephens,
YO! Youth Outlook, Jan 08, 2004

Sean Stephens, like many young artists, grew up fascinated with comic books and cartoons. This 23-year-old native of the Bronx, NY, is starting a creator-owned comic book series entitled Area Zero.

He says, “I enjoy the dynamic storytelling and the artistic challenges that comic books have to offer... As a result, I learned to paint in oils and acrylics as well digital painting.”

He continues, “Alongside modern and Renaissance artwork, I was always a fan of comic books. It has always been a dream of mine to become a famous comic book creator. Many people believe that black artists are only limited to subjects such as street life. I hope to break that stereotype and show that minorities have much to say in the realms of science fiction, horror, and adventure as well. Though there are a handful of black comic artists in the industry, I am far from discouraged. Rather, I see this as a call for more minorities to tell stories and express their unique visions.”
