Blog,
YO! Youth Outlook Multimedia, May 27, 2008

Calling all Youth/Youth Media Bloggers

Participate in the fourth Youth Media Blog-a-Thon

Topic: Sex

Building on the success of our first two virtual events, YO! Youth Outlook Multimedia and WireTap are proud to announce our third week-long Youth Media Blog-a-Thon to kick off on Wednesday May 28th.

We are calling all young bloggers (between the ages of 14-26) – along with any bloggers dedicated to writing about youth issues and youth media – to blog from May 28th to June 4th about: SEX!

Here are some ideas to address in your blog posts:
• What tips do you have for men and women when it comes to intimacy?
• What tips/stories do you have for young people in relationships concerning: long-term partnership, moving in together, open relationships, etc.
• What kind of sex education do you have in your school/community? Is it successful? What kind of sex education would you like to have in your school/community?
• What do you think about the way teen sexuality is portrayed in popular culture?
• Do you think there is more or less acceptance of queer sexuality now?Explain.

If you are interested in being a part of the Youth Media Blog-a-Thon, please email Neelanjana Banerjee at nbanerjee@newamericamedia.org.

About: This is the fourth of a series of monthly Youth Media Blog-a-Thons that aims to virtually connect the youth media community by asking them to respond to one topic and to engage with each other. We hope that these monthly events will foster more dialogue between youth media leading to connectivity as media makers and as activists.
Our first Youth Media Blog-a-Thon, held from February 20th to February 23rd, was a huge success! Over 15 bloggers discussed the upcoming presidential elections, the youth vote, who they were voting for and why, the idiosyncrasies of the super delegate system and whether making voting mandatory would help fix the system.

Our second Youth Media Blog-a-Thon, held from March 19th to the 26th, brought together powerful testimonials from young people about violence that had touched their lives both personally and globally.

Our third Youth Media Blog-a-Thon, held from April 23rd to April 30th, was all about money – especially the lack of it and ways to save it.
